The 2026 Legislative Conference brought together business professionals, legal experts, and state leaders for a full day of timely insights into the policies and workplace issues shaping the year ahead.
The conference opened with a comprehensive overview of SHRM’s 2026 workplace legislative initiatives from Steve Nail, SC SHRM Legislative Director.
We heard directly from South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson, who shared his legislative initiatives aimed at supporting business growth across the state, and Bill Duda, Managing Shareholder at Ogletree Deakins, delivered a critical legal update on what employers must know in 2026.
In the afternoon, William Floyd , Executive Director of SCDEW, provided updates on South Carolina’s workforce programs and emerging opportunities. Lt. Governor Pamela Evette addressed the workplace challenges currently facing South Carolina employers, and the day concluded with Mary Kate Littlejohn from the EEOC, who offered valuable insight into what employers can expect from the EEOC in 2026 and beyond.
